Hi @Namrata Aundhkar ,

Ben here from the Appfire team.

It sounds like you're looking for a way to handle bulk imports while using the Free tier of Jira Product Discovery (JPD). In the native Atlassian experience, bulk importing data typically involves using the CSV import tool. For JPD specifically, you can import ideas or other data by navigating to your project settings or using the "Create" button's dropdown to find the "Import issues from CSV" option. One thing to keep in mind with the Free tier is that you'll want to ensure your CSV file is formatted correctly with headers that match your JPD fields to avoid mapping errors during the process.

If you find the standard CSV import a bit rigid or time-consuming, JXL - Sheets Hierarchy Structure Sum-up Time in status Table can be a really helpful alternative for managing bulk data. JXL provides a spreadsheet-like interface directly within Jira, which allows you to bulk create or edit issues simply by copying and pasting data from your external CSV or Excel files directly into the JXL table. This "copy-paste" functionality is often much faster and more intuitive than the traditional import wizard, as it lets you see and validate your data in a familiar grid format before it's finalized in Jira. Based on the public documentation, this approach works seamlessly for creating many items at once, which seems to align perfectly with your need for a bulk import solution.

I hope this helps!

Hi @ben_snyder, we noticed you posted promotional content in multiple places across the forums, which is against our Atlassian Partners - Rules of Engagement. I’ve removed the duplicate/promotional posts and kept this one live.

Please also take a moment to review our rules so you're aware for next time. Also, if you're part of a Marketplace App team, we’d like to ask you to follow the steps outlined here to get an “Atlassian Partner” lozenge for your profile.

Thanks!

Hi @Namrata Aundhkar

CSV import is available on the free tier of Jira Product Discovery, so there's no paywall blocking you here.

To kick off the import, look for the global "+ Create" button at the very top of the page (to the right of the search bar, not a project-level button). From there you'll see an "Import work items" option. Select the import icon next to "Configure form," choose your CSV file, and follow the wizard from there. One thing worth knowing is that the import currently requires Jira Admin permissions, so if you're the site owner of your personal project you should be fine, but it's worth double-checking your role if the option doesn't appear.

On your question about columns, you do not need to create all your fields manually before importing. During the import wizard you can map your CSV columns to existing fields, and if a column doesn't match anything, you can select "Create a new custom field" and choose the field type right there. That said, it's worth being aware of a few limitations: field settings, views, and project settings won't carry over through the import, and insights cannot be imported this way either. So your ideas and their field values will come in cleanly, but any view configurations you've set up will need to be recreated manually afterwards.

Hope this helps!
