Currently, as many of you know the date fields work differently between Jira and Jira Product Discovery. This is a good community article written by @Robert DaSilva describing the differences and how you can use automation to modify JPD dates.
In cases where you may need to align on a date between an idea/JPD item and other work items across Jira, the workaround is to set up automation to sync fields. However, there are a few system fields in Jira that are baked into other features/functions (Start date, End date in Plans, Due date in many gadgets and UI features, etc.)
Is there any work being done to set up a few system Jira Product Discovery date fields that play nice with the Jira system date fields so that things are abstracted away for users of both to potentially pull the work items/ideas into the same reports/plans/sections?
Would be great if Atlassian is solving it with some sort of easy abstraction? Before then, is the recommendation to set up some global JPD date fields and a global automation rule to help keep things in sync? Any other best practices?
