Where should an SAP implementation solution live?

I've been wondering how Jira administrators view large SAP S/4HANA implementation projects.

Imagine a solution that could manage everything from requirements and Fit/Gap analysis to WRICEF tracking, sprint planning, testing, dashboards, and project governance.

Would you expect something like that to work natively within Jira, or would you rather have it as a standalone platform? Or do you think it should support multiple project management tools?

I'm particularly interested in the reasoning behind your preference. Whether you've managed SAP projects or other enterprise transformation programs, I'd love to hear what has worked well and what hasn't.

I would highly recommend managing the SAP implementation directly within Jira. Configure a single project to support the full delivery lifecycle, including RAID items, milestones, project plans, development objects, testing artifacts, and deployment activities.

Organize the work by workstream and sub-workstream to provide end-to-end visibility and traceability across the project. Leadership dashboards can offer clear insights into progress, risks, dependencies, and key milestones, while automation can reduce manual effort and streamline routine activities.

Integrating Jira with SAP testing and automation tools, where possible, can further strengthen the solution and create a more connected delivery ecosystem.

We currently support hundreds of transformation projects on our Jira platform using this approach, with tremendous success.
