How does your team use Sub-tasks?

What if I created a sub-task for each type of resource that works on a story to gather resource data? That thought crossed my mind recently. We would know how much development, analysis, testing, security, etc. is involved in the product life cycle; I think that is valuable information.

I've done exactly that at a previous company and it worked well for us.

I think the important point for you to consider is why you're doing it and if there any any downsides for your team(s). This should probably be a team decision, if there's a need for it.
