Initial Estimate Greyed Out on Epic

On Epics, the Initial Estimate field is greyed out.  How does it get set originally?  I'm not seeing a way to estimate on the the add or edit screens.

@Stephanie Davis Initial estimate will be greyed out once the Epic is assigned to one or more PI's. You will then see the PI estimates for any PI's associated. If you want an overall estimate for the Epic, set the intitial estimate before it is assigned to Pi's.

The Initial Estimate field is greyed out when you specify Program / Planning Increments (PIs) for the Epic.  The "Initial Estimate" is the overall estimate (across PIs), and so when you specify the PIs for the Epics, it gets greyed out and you are only able to specify estimates for each PI.
