Hi Community! 👋

Let’s be honest: some days, just trying to get your bearings at work takes up half a day. Whether you’re digging through endless Slack messages just to find who actually owns a project, wondering how your daily tasks connect to company goals, or trying to piece together data from different tools.

If you ever felt you’re unwillingly playing this digital hide-and-seek, you’re not alone. Indeed, Gallup reported that “employees are struggling to connect their contributions to the team’s larger purpose. As a result, employees are more detached from their jobs than ever.”

As a Product Marketing Manager, I deal with that exact same chaos every day. To keep my own sanity, I rely heavily on Atlassian Platform apps to answer: who's working on what, how work ties to bigger goals, and where to find strategic answers.

In this post, I’ll show you how to use Goals, Teams, Projects, and Analytics to connect the dots. Plus, I’ll recap the new updates we just announced at Team '26 US and what they mean for your day-to-day.

🎦 See how the Atlassian Platform apps deliver better outcomes: The Atlassian Platform: where teamwork and AI actually work

💡 These apps are pre-loaded in your Atlassian Cloud platform, so there’s nothing extra to buy or install!

Goals

It’s tough to stay motivated when you don't see the point of what you're doing. In fact, an Accenture study found that “only 30% of workers see a link between their work and their company's broader purposes”. When teams feel disconnected, they start to work in silos, and morale takes a hit. Goals put every team in a shared place to track objectives and all relevant work, so you always understand how your work contributes to the big picture.

At Team '26 US, we shared how Goals can make goal tracking more flexible and transparent for your teams:

  • [available now] Goal types give your organization the flexibility to define and use your own goal terminology, making it easy for your teams to stay aligned with terminologies that everyone is already familiar with.

  • 🆕 [available now] Activity History logs every important change to your goals: what changed, when, and by whom. This way, you can tell who moved a goal to "at risk" or when a target was revised, making it easier to trace decisions and hold task owners accountable.

  • 🆕 [available now] With Studio automation, the right people get notified instantly when a goal changes status, so no one finds out a goal is off track two weeks too late.

Projects

The Projects app gives you a central place to see what’s on track and what’s blocked, and automatically nudges the next task owner when progress happens. You’ll spend less time chasing people for updates, and everyone can stay in the loop on progress and blockers without the extra meetings.

At Team '26 US, we showed how Projects can save you time and improve collaboration with AI and automation:

  • 🆕 [open beta] With AI-powered status updates, Rovo can help you draft your weekly update by pulling from your Atlassian Projects and related Jira work items to generate a draft you can review, edit, and publish. So instead of writing from scratch, you can quickly capture your team's progress and surface key changes, risks, and milestones for your stakeholders.

  • 🆕 [coming soon] Studio automations automatically notify the next owner when the project field changes. This helps you keep the momentum going without relying on or waiting for manual follow-ups.

  • 🆕 [available now] You can prevent someone from overwriting critical updates with more granular control over who can edit your Goals and Projects. With this added control, only the right people can edit, while admins always retain the access to step in and troubleshoot.

Teams

If you wish to stop playing detective to figure out who owns what, Teams is your best source of truth for every team and what they own. Find the right people, manage access, and take off your detective hat.

At Team '26 US, we introduced new admin controls to keep your directory clean and accurate:

  • 🆕 [available now] The team hierarchy mirrors your organization’s real-world structure from departments down to the squads, so you can easily navigate the reporting line without manually maintaining an org chart. As your team grows, the hierarchy is automatically updated by syncing with Workday or SCIM.

  • 🆕 [available now] In Jira, you can now assign issues directly to teams and filter boards by team. Additionally, you can use JQL to automatically route and manage work with automation rules.

  • 🆕 [available now] In Confluence, you can grant permissions to the entire team at the space or page level. As people join or leave, their access would update automatically. This way, control is scaled, and no work is blocked.

Analytics

Having a ton of data is useless if it’s trapped in a dozen different apps and you have to write code just to make sense of it. The Analytics app closes this gap. It brings together data from across Atlassian and third-party apps, so you can turn scattered numbers into executive-ready reports in minutes.

At Team '26 US, we made a number of exciting new announcements that I think everyone will really love:

  • 🆕 [coming soon] Soon, every Atlassian Cloud customer will get a flexible canvas to visualize and track their work across Jira, JSM, Goals, and more. Instead of stitching reports together from different apps, the dashboards give you a centralized place to track and act on your work. If you're on Enterprise, you also get full SQL exploration and Data Lake access as a bonus.

  • 🆕 [closed beta] Getting data into a dashboard is simple, but knowing if you can trust it is the real challenge. Coming soon, we're integrating Secoda’s AI-ready data management capabilities into Analytics so that the definitions, ownership, and quality signals stay attached to your data.

Screenshot 2026-06-03 at 1.43.18 PM.png

  • 🆕 [available now] Any paid Jira user can now use the /get-data-insights command in Rovo Chat to get insights into sprint progress, SLA trends, and team workloads, and get charts back in seconds. No more SQL needed.

  • 🆕 [closed beta] By using /get-data-insights (live now) in Rovo Chat or Rovo Analytics (coming soon), you can have fluid conversations with your work data for deeper analysis across Atlassian and external sources like Snowflake or Databricks.

I can't wait for AI-powered status updates for Projects! It does feel like this was available at some point while Rovo/AI was quite fresh. We do use this Platform app regularly (for almost all of our implementation projects) as it gives a really nice 'recap' of the whole project, learnings, and decisions in the end. 🙌
