Today, we're excited to announce that we're bringing Rovo to Atlassian Goals and Projects. Keeping stakeholders confident in project health depends on clear, consistent updates – but writing them takes time. If you’ve ever stared at an empty status box wondering what to write, you’re not alone. Rovo‑powered status updates (beta) give Goals and Projects a head start, so your teams can spend more time doing the work and less time reporting on it. With Rovo-powered status updates, your teams can:
Turn raw progress into clear, structured project updates in seconds
Shorten long, detailed goal updates into concise summaries with one click
Keep stakeholders aligned with updates that are easier to scan and understand
Rovo does the digging and drafting, but your team members decide what’s important and what actually gets published.
For Projects, when you ask Rovo to help with an update, it:
Looks at your Atlassian Project and related Jira work items
Uses recent changes in Teamwork Graph as signals
Turns that into a draft update you can review, edit, shorten, and publish
Helps your team call out key changes, risks, and upcoming milestones, so project health is clearer for stakeholders
So instead of writing from scratch, you start from a smart draft based on meaningful progress your team has made that week.
For Goals, Rovo focuses on tidying up long, detailed updates, so stakeholders can quickly understand the key insights at a glance. When goal owners write an update, they can use Rovo to shorten the text into a concise, scannable summary, making it faster for leaders and stakeholders to see what changed.
Over time, clearer, more consistent updates make it easier for stakeholders to see how work has evolved, understand why decisions were made, and spot where risks tend to arise across projects and goals.
AI will be automatically activated for Goals and Projects. Existing customers may see AI disabled, depending on their organization’s existing AI settings. You can activate AI for Goals and Projects at any time in Atlassian Administration.
We’ll start rolling out this beta experience mid-March. You’ll see an in‑product notification in Atlassian Administration when it’s live. To learn more, visit the support documentation.
Once you’ve tried Rovo‑powered updates in Goals or Projects, we’d love to hear from you. Drop your thoughts in the comments so we can keep tuning the experience.
@Piotr Smialek we are rolling the beta out gradually over the next few weeks, look out for a notification in your Atlassian Administration (if you are an admin). Once its enabled for you, all you need to do is go into Projects and write a status update. Here you will see the option to "Draft with Rovo".
Please let me know if this answered your question!
as a ux designer working for marketplace apps i would like to know what is your rolling out process is divided. like 25% of the users during 1st week, 50% next etc.
i know that probably you can not share this information :D
Are there any Plans to also enable the automatic Rovo generation from Projects for Goals? This could greatly speed up the Update process there too, as well as give it more accuracy. (And I mean more than just summarizing, more like it actually tracking linked Jira Items)
@Hanke_ Tristan _ITO_ absolutely love this suggestion. We are actively exploring additional Rovo capabilities for Goals and Projects that can make creation and on-going management of your goals and projects easier. This includes the ability for Rovo to setup a project/goal with relevant links, managing links on a goal/project and even suggesting projects that should be created based on activity various across apps.
Please let us know any other ideas and feedback you have in mind for Rovo-powered use cases that would be of benefit to your team.
