Jira Software Data Center and Service Desk instances

Hello there Atlassian!
I have a question about a diferent JIRA´s instances...

Our customer has some handicaps:

1- They want Data Center because it has active-active funcionality, for example. So, they are going to buy it for sure.

2- But, they don't want spend money in Service Desk licenses, because they don't want to start with a "big cost".

We know that our customer needs Jira Software and Service Desk Data Center, and we offer it in a future, because they want to start without overspending on license.

And our question, can we install two instances for testing? an instance with Jira Software Data Center and another intance with Jira Service Desk.

If you have Jira Software data center and additional 50 agent licenses is only 13k more.  If you setup a separate instance for service desk server 50 agent licenses is 19k more.  So starting everything off on data center is cheaper at the 50 license level.  The only way save money is if you have a lower number of licenses, 25 or less. 

If you setup two instances you will lose some of the convenience and benefits that comes from having a single instance.  Some of these can be created via application links but most are lost.  

If you are truly going to be having them use software and service desk on data center in the end I would suggest standing it up this way.  You have 30 days to try it out with the client for free.  And if you are still testing it with them Atlassian would more than likely give you a little more time to test, if it is not a production environment, by simply submitting a support ticket. Then the customer gets to experience all the benefits of having the applications on the same instance for at least 30 days while testing.
