Strike though does not display on @username

Use case: User wants to track attendees so they mark down everyone's @username on the page. The people who don't show get strike though on their name.

When saving and viewing in read mode, the strike though does not display on the user name. Is this just ... normal?

Assumption is some formatting won't work on function items like system date // and @username.

Can someone please verify this?

Thanks for the response. I definitely won't have users modify the html to add the strike though :)
