Hello,
I have a question, is there a plugin which will allow our Jira users to comfortably switch between Jira Service Desk and the Confluence knowledge wiki without having to re-enter their passwords?
I do know that there are add-ons for this feature on marketplace. My boss however would like to find an alternative way as we will continue to self-host Jira for as long possible.
We are currently running Jira Version 7.13.0 and are planning to update to 8.18.0 this fall.
So far I have found a possibility with the Microsoft Azure Active Directory plugin for Jira. This is currently under review.
I´d appreciate some feedback and maybe some more ideas. Thanks.

Welcome to the community!
According to my understanding the best way to achieve the use case is to integrate both the Atlassian applications with the IAM application (for eg. OKTA, ADFS, miniOrange, etc) for Single Sign-on (SAML/OIDC SSO) where user authentication will be done by the IAM and user can use the same credential and browser session to access both the applications.
Thank you Mahima and Kishan for your answers. Actually the link to the discussion was most helpful for getting an idea of what else is possible.
However, for the time being, we are not looking at purchasing another add-on for SSO.
My colleague may have found another work around by using Crowd. Once we have updated our jira server version, I will let you know how this goes.

Thanks for the acknowledgement.
Crowd will definitely be a better solution but has some additional requirements. SSO is supported in the Data Center and in case you are opting to use native crowd SSO then you will have to assure all the users are present in Crowd which can be time-consuming for you.
Also, if you want a central application for authorization and authentication along with the additional security layer such as 2FA then my recommendation is to have at IAM applications.
Hope this helps you!
