Greetings Team Atlassian,
So far I have been a server customer, but I would like to migrate to your cloud hosting. I would very much like to be able to host in a European data center; preferrably one located in Germany.
In various forum posts and on various Atlassian sites I have been reading about an EU-option and that one can sign-up for a beta:
However, I am not able to find a "sign-up here for EU hosting (beta)"-button.
Ireland seems to be one option (link #5): Is there a way for customers to specifically select this country as data center location?
Would you please clarify the situation for me?
Thanks in advance!
Hello there!
Interesting question Marcus. Currently, this is managed based on Traffic Origin of your instance. Excerpt from out documentation:
Can I choose the location of where my Jira or Confluence cloud site data resides?
Atlassian will optimize where customer data is located based on how it is accessed around the world. As an example, if the majority of the users access Jira or Confluence cloud instances from Europe, then their data will be migrated to one of our European regions.
You can check more information about this in the page you linked above:
The regions around the world where Atlassian stores data are described on the same link, excerpt from there:
Where does Atlassian store data?
Today, Atlassian maintains data centers and hosts data in the US, Germany, Ireland, Singapore, and Australia. We provide all customers with secure, fast and reliable services by hosting their content in multiple regions around the world.

Let us hear from you Marcus! Looking forward to your reply.
Hi Diego! Thanks for your quick response and clearing things up.
However, could you elaborate on the statements made by your colleague (Dario) in 2017? He mentioned something about signing-up for a beta regarding EU-hosting:
"You can Sign-up for our public beta offering and be one of the first customers to have their data hosted in Europe"
Best,
Marcus
