Color/shading different between edit mode and not edit mode

When I'm editing a page this morning, I'm seeing color weirdness. Two things I've noticed: (1) It no longer shows me the background color of a panel in edit mode, and (2) the "purple star" emojis I have are purple in edit mode but blue stars when not in edit mode. I did restart my computer, but is something else going on? First screenshot is edit mode; second is published.

This doesn’t look like something caused by your computer. Another Confluence Cloud user reported very similar behavior today: customized panels appear correctly while editing, but change color or lose their icons after the page is published.

The blue star also appears to be a rendering problem rather than an intentional fallback emoji. Since both the panel styling and emoji change between edit and published views, I’d treat this as a Confluence Cloud display regression rather than trying to repair the page by replacing colors or emojis.

I’d avoid making extensive edits for now, since the underlying content may still be correct and only the published rendering is affected. It’d be useful to test the page in a private browser window and another browser. Still, if the behavior remains consistent, I’d open an Atlassian Support case and include the page URL, screenshots from both views, the approximate time it started, and the specific emoji and panel color used.

Since you’re on Enterprise, your site admin should be able to raise the case directly and ask Atlassian whether this is connected to an active rollout or known incident.

I'm seeing similar behavior. I have a bunch of notes with thinking emojis, or the monocle emoji, and every time the page is edited, the note is replaced with a glaring white background and is now a panel.

I experimented and found if i do a note with the default icon, it works fine. But as soon as I change the icon of the note to an emoji, the note is converted to a panel on publish. The panels are glaring and very hard to read.

This behavior has been going on for 1-2 weeks.

For anyone following, Claude tells me the blue star is a fall-back something-failed emoji, so it's coincidental that I started with the purple star and it looks like it changed to blue. And it says the inability to see the panels' background color is also a known issue, and I can edit by color number, like #FFEBE6.
