Can you have a Group definition with several groups under it for space permissions

Currently when you create a group you can specify only users to join. Is there a way to specify Sub groups in the Group creation? Jira 5.2.4.2 or Confluence 4.3.3

I see the capability in ROLES, but we need to specifiy a user group by space permissions so i see no way to do it.

No. Groups are flat groups. You can only put users in groups, not other groups.
