Confluence Content Management: Part 4

blueprints.pngNow that an application strategy is defined, it’s time to determine page hierarchy and ways to organize content.

Space Scenario

Here’s a sample scenario for a small company with an in-house HR department.

The Confluence advisory board has set a few global standards that apply to all spaces. They are:

Global Standards

  • A. One space for each department

  • B. Each space has a contact, index, and FAQ page

  • C. Use the table of contents macro for lengthy content

  • D. Order pages alphabetically

Additionally, the HR department has a few of their own standards to accommodate. They are:

HR Department Standards

  • E. Organize content by audience

  • F. Restrict access to sensitive information

I recommend building this scenario on paper first. When all the details are worked out, then build the structure in Confluence.

Head to the next parts of this series for step by step instructions.
