15 Small but Mighty Updates in Confluence Cloud

Hi Community,

Here with another roundup of small-but-mighty updates to Confluence Cloud! We know that sometimes, it’s the tiniest steps in your daily workflow that feel like the biggest difference in a smoothly-run day. That’s why our engineering team is working behind the scenes to resolve upvoted support tickets, squash most common bugs, and instate popular requests that surprise-and-delight or simply help you get your work done more easily – one ticket at a time. Here are 15 recent Small but Mighty updates in Confluence Cloud!

Editing Improvements ✏️

  1. [New feature 🌟] Based on a request that received over 800 upvotes, we’re excited to deliver the brand new option to display files on the same line as text! You can also toggle between the default card view and new inline view. Learn more

  3. Files added to a page in Edit mode will now finish uploading before a page is published to ensure that files can be viewed and accessed successfully. Learn more

  4. URLs pasted in Confluence pages that include special characters – like “{", "|", "\", "^", "~", and "]” – now render properly on published pages, so readers can view and click the URL to visit the linked page. Learn more

Confluence macros get an upgrade ⚡️

  1. URL fields in the Jira issue macro are now clickable, so you can navigate to relevant content in one click. Learn more

  2. Also, accented letters and characters now appear properly in the Jira issue macro (like "á" and “š”). Learn more

  3. The Contributors summary macro now displays and sorts users listed based on the most recent contributions to the content, so you easily know who interacted with your page last. Learn more

  4. Now, you can add links into the Link macro not just by pasting a URL but by searching for pages within the Confluence site too, saving you the hassle of finding the page URL yourself. Learn more

Exported PDFs look cleaner than ever 💅

  1. PDF exports no longer cut off or crop out diagrams, large tables, images and macros, action items, and other page styling.

  2. Chinese characters, unique symbols, and Cyrillic characters are now supported.

  3. Colors in exported table cells are now represented in exported pages.

  4. The Jira Pie Chart macro and Task Report Macro now render in exported pages and spaces.

  5. Images within Confluence content that are exported have seen their own enhancements, like the preserved positioning of side-aligned images and displayed image captions.

  6. Standard emojis now render properly when exported to PDF or Microsoft Word.

Did you know 💡: You don’t need to export content into PDFs anymore with brand new public links in Confluence — share view-only versions of your Confluence pages with anyone on the internet via a unique public URL! Learn more

Last, but not least, a pro tip for Macbook users 💻:

  1. With the newest MacOS Sonoma update, you can now access Confluence straight from your dock! Simply click “Add to Dock…” in the File menu when viewing a Confluence page on Safari. See how it's done
