12 Small but Mighty Updates in Confluence Cloud

Hi there,

We know how satisfying a smooth workflow feels – one where blockers are removed ahead of time and start-to-end processes flow just as expected. At Confluence, we chase that feeling with you, knowing that even seemingly small product updates can make a mighty difference to your team’s day-to-day work (and ours too! 🤝).

Following our December announcement that the bug backlog is getting cleaned up, we're happy to share the first 12 Small-but-Mighty improvements to Confluence.

Editing Improvements ✏️

1. Indent and outdent buttons are now available for easy access in the Editor toolbar. Learn more.

Thanks @Sai Ramanathan for the updates. Not the BHAGs, but the incremental changes that keep improving the experience. Keep iterating!

@Sai Ramanathan Please fix the "Recently updated" macro has been broken for more than a year and a half. It's a basic feature.

Why don't you fix it?

Hi @Sai Ramanathan continuous improvement, one step at a time, no status quo. ↗️

@Matthias thank you for bringing that up! Our engineering team took a look at this and fixed it. The fix went out this morning PST.

I had hoped the Heading Links would resolve the fact that using them eliminates the portal. Not helpful when you want your clients to be able to continue to navigate the Service Desk articles. We still cannot use these heading links until they also open within the portal view. Heading Link and Portal View.png

Rather than adding emojis id rather want to see them removed or an option to disable them.

To quote one user:

I use Confluence professionally, where emojis are nearly never welcome.

It would be great if real Markdown import was supported.

Over 10 years later and STILL no movement on the absolutely basic ability to highlight text?!?

We were pushed into cloud yet there are still a ton of features missing or entirely broken that we had no issues with on-prem. This is ridiculous, many of them have been open for many years.

Our unlicensed Confluence users are second-class citizens, but they got a taste of what it could be with Confluence Server:

Confluence Server editor had no issues with:

The above is just a short list of what frustrates our users.. but you should really be tapping yourselves on the back for adding the Sloth emoticon.

End users get confused when they see (Deactivated) is there a way to not have the created by or last updated by on the main display of the document, Deactivation for some means the policy is deactivated...  They do know know all the employees past and present

Hey @mattpatenaude , although I too have been annoyed by the lack of table width options (and the time it's taken to get this the attention it deserves), I do see a comment on both of the top items that suggests they're in progress (one is marked as such, the other isn't but the comment seems to imply it is, perhaps with a dependency).

I too would also love the resizing images, and happen to be not too bothered about reordering table rows, but that last on is now also marked as In progress.

@Jon Andersen Still not possible to highlight text, but now you can use a falafel emoji!

Agree, @Albert Fadool

In our case, we don't have the concern about the meaning of Deactivated, but the document creator is rarely important information 3yrs down the track. Who last updated the document is. If we can see the creator in the history, that's enough for us. It would be nice to hide the Creator from the main display of pages.

Unable to add a new table in a cell. It's always out of the Table
