Hello community members!

I’m Tiffany, Associate Product Manager on the Confluence team. Last year, we launched Confluence Public Links that enabled anyone on the internet to view Confluence pages. Over the years, Confluence has adapted its capabilities to foster more collaboration and engagement amongst our users. But we know there is room to grow!

We’d love your feedback to help shape the future of Public Links in Confluence

In the comments below, please tell us about your experience using Public Links, specifically:

  • What kind of page content do you find yourself sharing as a Public Link?

    • Is it a single page or a grouping of pages?

  • Who are you sharing Public Links to and to how many people?

    • Are these individuals familiar with Confluence, in your team, etc.

  • How do you expect your Public Link visitors to interact with your Public Link? Do save it, respond to it, just read it?

  • How do you share your Public Link? Do you individually give your visitors a link, or do you post the link somewhere, etc.

  • How often do you find yourself sharing Public Links?

  • How long do you keep a Public Link ON before toggling OFF?

Lastly,

  • Are there other types of Confluence content you wish you could share via a Public Link that is not available today?

  • Any other functionalities you wish to have for Public Links?

Thank you so much for your feedback and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these questions!

Hi there! I work in local government and my team is using Jira/Confluence to manage our city's migration from outdated technology to a modern suite of customer service tools to better serve our community. We have been using Jira for a few years but are just getting started with Confluence. Overall, we have made our Atlassian products work for our team but one of the major downsides is not being able to easily share Jira story statuses with stakeholders (reflected in my responses below).

What kind of page content do you find yourself sharing as a Public Link? So far, sharing single pages hasn’t been particularly helpful. It would be great to be able to create a public link to view an entire space or a grouping of pages without having to add them as a guest. For example, a folder of status updates so they can see the most current one and a few previous updates by using one link.

Who are you sharing Public Links to and to how many people? Stakeholders within various government bureaus/programs. Could be anywhere from 1-50 people depending on the project.

How do you expect your Public Link visitors to interact with your Public Link? Save it, respond to it, just read it? For the most part, probably just read it. Some people would probably comment/respond or save it depending on the content.

How do you share your Public Link? Do you individually give your visitors a link, or do you post the link somewhere, etc. Individually share right now but would potentially post a link on an intranet page if it made sense.

How often do you find yourself sharing Public Links? Not very often right now but would like to do it more.

How long do you keep a Public Link ON before toggling OFF? A couple weeks.

Are there other types of Confluence content you wish you could share via a Public Link that is not available today? I wish we could share a bird’s eye view of Jira story statuses on our Confluence space home page (or anywhere else) without having to screenshot our boards and then add the image to a page.

Thanks!
