How do you handle external services in Compass?

Pete Stanley

We use the Compass + OpsGenie integration.

In OpsGenie, we like to track external services for full stack visibility, E.g. Github, AWS, etc.

When we add an external service to OpsGnie, Compass automatically creates a component. While we'd ideally want this (again for operating the full stack), it'd be preferred to mark these components somehow in Compass as external so that we don't spam up the internal software catalog and score cards don't factor in external services.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to tackle external services/components in Compass?

hi, got this on one of existing post

"We tag all auto-created external services (GitHub, AWS, etc.) with an external-service label and group them under a dedicated ‘External Services’ type/team. That way, we keep full-stack visibility in Compass, but can filter them out from internal catalogs and scorecards. Would be great if Atlassian added a native ‘External’ flag."
