Hello, and welcome. I'm a newbie here, too. I started with courses from Atlassian. Enjoy your Jira journey!

Welcome, @Bhavadharani K! Great to have another backend enthusiast here—Java and Rust folks are very welcome. 🙌

Here’s a tiny starter kit to get the most out of Jira + Confluence:

Jira

  • Pick a project style: Scrum (sprints) or Kanban (continuous flow).

  • Start simple: To do → In progress → In review → Done.

  • Add two quick filters on your board: assignee = currentUser() and component = backend.

  • Connect your git repo (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket) and include the issue key (e.g., PROJ-123) in commits/PRs to auto-link work.

  • Try one automation: when a PR is merged, transition the issue to Done and add the PR link as a comment.

Confluence

  • Create a space for your project notes.

  • Use templates like Meeting notes, How-to, and Decision (great for ADRs).

  • Paste a Jira issue key to embed it directly; use Code blocks for snippets and Smart Links for repos.

  • Keep a home page with: how to run locally, env vars, endpoints, and “next steps.”

Pro tip: learn two shortcuts—press c to create an issue and . for quick actions. Start small and iterate as your workflow grows.
