🐞 Forums bug report thread

Seeing something weird or broken in the Atlassian Community forums?
Reply to this thread to let us know about forums-only bugs (UI glitches, buttons not working, pages not loading as expected, etc.).

When you reply, here is what we need from you:

  • A short description of what’s happening on the forums

  • What you expected to happen instead

  • A link to the affected forums page or thread

  • Screenshots and/or error messages (if any). Screenshots really help to ensure we are all looking at the same place.

  • Your browser + OS (for UI issues)

We’ll like your post once we’ve seen it and started looking into it.
We won’t reply to every report (otherwise this thread becomes its own kind of chaos), but we’ll respond when we need more info or have an update to share.

Behind the scenes, the Community team and moderators will review your report, try to reproduce it, and route it to the right internal team where needed.

👉 Important: We can’t fix issues inside Atlassian products like Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.
If you’ve found a bug in an Atlassian product, please visit our public bug tracker at jira.atlassian.com to see if it’s already reported. You can watch or vote on any matching issue. This thread is just for Community forums bugs.

Every report helps us tame the chaos a bit more. Thanks for flagging the oddities so the rest of the Community doesn’t have to meet them.

Hi @SilkeS the Atlassian Answered: Confluence challenge doesn't "complete" for me although I have completed the learning course.

Hi @Dave Mathijs ! I've had a look into this and since you completed the learning course before the Atlassian Answered badge was launched, the badge wasn't automatically awarded. I've now awarded the Atlassian Answered: Confluence badge for you 😊

Hi @Angelie  It's me again. 🙂 The same is happening for the Atlassian Answered: Jira challenge, could you please have this one fixed as well? Thanks in advance!

Same bug for me, even though I've completed both courses:

Hi,

I'm having issue with one of the learning activities and I found myself here. I have the exact same issue as @Dave Mathijs in regards to the Atlassian Answered: Confluence challenge. The course was completed prior to taking on the challenge. Thanks in advance!

Greetings!

I just noticed a minor symptom, possibly related to the last round of profile management updates: the Current Position value does not match everywhere.

Steps to repro:

  • Use an account which was set up before the profile management updates a year ago (or so), and which had a Current Position value set
  • Navigate to the user profile, and note the Current Position value
  • Edit the profile to change the Current Position, and save changes
  • Wait a day or more for stuff to catch up...
  • With all browser caching cleared, log into the community, and observe:
    • On the landing page for Forums, the profile information at the right side of the page is correct for Current Position.  (It is still incorrect for badging, but that is another thing...  ;^)
    • Navigate to the profile, and the Current Position matches what was changed to
    • Navigate to a post the user made, and hover over the user's name: the old, original Current Position value (from the old profile fields) appears.  The other information shown with the hover action appears correct.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi Community Managers! Here's the info you requested for my bug report:

  • A short description of what’s happening on the forums

    • An answer I posted in the "Jira-questions" forum is not visible. The person who asked the question received my response via email however.
  • What you expected to happen instead

    • The answer I submitted on approx. March 24, 2026 is displayed.
  • A link to the affected forums page or thread

  • Screenshots and/or error messages (if any). Screenshots really help to ensure we are all looking at the same place.

    • No error message displayed today or when I submitted the response.
  • Your browser + OS (for UI issues)

    • Mine: Windows 11, Brave browser 1.88.136 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 146.0.7680.164
    • User who first noticed the problem: Unknown

Thanks for looking into it!

Hi @Rachel Wright

I wonder if the cause is the recent additions to the thread you noted are necro-posting (per the community rules of engagement), and thus perhaps they were removed:

https://community.atlassian.com/forums/custom/page/page-id/rules-of-engagement

Normally, the community managers / moderators have been locking threads when people necro-post to them rather than deleting the posts.

However...there is also this recent announcement about archiving (and deleting?) older content, so perhaps that had an impact:

https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Contributors-articles/Announcement-Archiving-older-community-content-created-before/ba-p/3207827

Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks for the context @Bill Sheboy. I wasn't familiar with the term "necroposting" before, so I appreciate the clarification. I did spend some time setting up the use case and preparing a working answer with screenshots since I thought it was a good question. In the future, I'll make sure to check the date of questions before responding.

On a related note, I noticed something in the Jira forum that I wanted to flag. I only see two unanswered questions from 2026, with the third being from January 2025, and everything older than that from 2024. Are there really very few recent unanswered Jira questions, or could something be off with how they're showing up?

@Rachel Wright -- yup, that looks broken too.  If you deselect Unanswered and start paging through, you will find many more unanswered questions just in the last few days.

I stopped using those top-level filters a while ago, particularly from one's profile of posts as those are buggy too.

@Benjamin we will have a look at this. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

@Bill Sheboy Thank you for reporting this bug. Could you confirm if you are referring to “agile coach, idling” on the hover card versus “Agile coach, software engineer, etc.” on your profile page? It’s possible this was missed when we updated things earlier this year. Once you confirm, I can open a ticket with our engineering team to investigate. Thank you!

@Rachel Wright I just had a look at the missing post and was able to locate it. It appears it was removed for necroposting by one of our moderators. I’ll review the unanswered‑post filter and open a ticket. Thank you for pointing this out.

Hi @SilkeS

The current value on my profile page is: Agile coach, software engineer, etc.  The older profile value shows on hovering over my ID in posts: agile coach, idling.

For example, when hovering over my ID earlier in this thread, one sees this with the old value, not what is currently on my profile page:

Screenshot 2026-03-31 151122 - Copy.png

(Oh yeah, and the count differences ;^)

Thanks!
