Suddenly can't select fellow users anymore for assigning an issue

yannickdejong May 8, 2019

Hi,

I used to be able to assign fellow users to the issues I created. However, suddenly my fellow users no longer appeared in the drop down menu. I still have the ability to assign an issue, there is just no one to assign the issue to anymore. I have consulted with the admin of the project, but he doesn't understand the problem either. I have the right permissions. What should I do?

Hi Yannick, I'm a Support Engineer for Bitbucket and I'll try to help you with your question.

First of all, we'll need to know if you're using Bitbucket Cloud or Server. As you said you're not using Jira I'm inclined to believe that you're using Bitbucket Cloud with the built-in issue tracker, is this correct?

If this is your case, you need to make sure that the users you'd like to add as assignees have access to that repository. Then they will show up in the dropdown menu. If they still don't, could you please send us the following:

- The name of the repository

- One of the usernames you're trying to add

- A screenshot

Thanks in advance!

Ana

Hi Ana,

Thanks for helping me. I do not know what happened but the issue seems to be resolved. As suddenly as it became a problem it also resolved itself. The persons I would like to assign have acces to the repository but just did not appear under the assignee dropdown menu. I haven't changed a thing but right now they do appear under the assignee dropdown menu once again. Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi Yannick, well, that's good news then! It might have just been a temporary issue, or something local, whatever it was I'm glad it's fixed now.

If you encounter this issue in the future, please contact us again and make sure to provide the information I asked in my previous message so we can jump faster to the investigation :)

Have a great day,

Ana

Hi Yannick,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!
If the user list doesn't appear to select the assignee, maybe you or a group you are part of was deleted or removed from the global permission to browse users and groups.
If you are an administrator of the instance, please go to Jira settings > System > Global permissions and check if you have the permission "Browse users and groups".

If it does not work, please ask the project administrator to check if you have permission to assign issues. This can be checked on Project settings > Permissions.

Regards,
Angélica

Hi Angélica,

Thank you, the group still exists. My colleague is also part of the group and she is now assigning colleagues in my stead. I am not an administrator but the administrator has checked the permissions I have and I have all the needed permissions. I have the permission to assign issues.

Yannick, please ask your site-admin to confirm that you have the group jira-servicedesk-users on your profile in Site administration > Users and also the project administrator to check if you are part of the role Service Desk Team.
You can also use the Permission helper, search for your name and the permission to confirm if there is no permission blocking you from set an assignee to an issue.

Hi Angelica,

My site-admin told me to inform you I am using bitbucket. He doesn't know what to do with the answer and he thinks that this might be because I am not using Jira but bitbucket?
