Email issue

Currently, my Bitbucket/Atlassian account is associated with my old email address. I am trying to change it to my new email address. However, when I attempt to update the email, I receive a message stating that the .com email address is already associated with another Atlassian account.

It appears that an Atlassian account was previously created using my email address, possibly due to an earlier login or invitation to an Atlassian product. My active Bitbucket work and repositories are currently associated with the .in email account, and I would like to continue using only the .com email going forward.

Hi Vivek, Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

 

Atlassian enforces a one-to-one relationship between an email address and an Atlassian account. The error indicates that your .com email address is already associated with another Atlassian account and therefore cannot be added to your current account.

To resolve this:

  • Sign in to the Atlassian account that currently uses the .com email.
  • Navigate to Profile → Email address and change it to a temporary email address.
  • Remove the .com email from that account.
  • Sign in to your primary Atlassian account and add the .com email, then set it as the primary email.

If you no longer have access to the other account, please contact Atlassian Support to request an email release or account merge.
