ESC key discards all your work without a warning

I'm so annoyed because of this! I lost almost 30mins of my work :/ This is a tremendous productivity blocker, and I have seen the same issue raised multiple times in the past 10 years.

Is using the tilde (`) key to format the text so uncommon? There's a high chance of pressing ESC instead of the tilde key.

Thank you for raising this to our attention. I agree that there should be at least a warning dialogue box to prevent users from losing their work accidentally.
