Direct Quote-to-Invoice correlation in Commerce REST API — confirming invoiceGroupId is the recommen

Hi team,

Following up on this from a Partner / Billing Admin integration perspective.

I've confirmed that invoiceGroupId is present on both the Quote object and the resulting Entitlement, and that GET /commerce/api/v2/invoices supports an invoice-group filter alongside the required X-transaction-account header. This lets me join Quotes → Invoices via the shared invoiceGroupId, but since a single invoice group can span multiple invoices over a subscription's lifecycle (initial purchase, renewals, usage-based charges), I still have to disambiguate the specific invoice generated from a given quote by matching on issue date proximity or line-item/amount comparison against the quote's upcomingBills.

Two questions:

  1. Is invoiceGroupId correlation officially the recommended pattern for this use case, or is there a more precise mechanism I'm missing?
  2. Is a direct field — e.g. sourceQuoteId on the invoice, or a resultingInvoiceId on the quote/order — in scope for COMMERCE-25 (Ability to retrieve comprehensive billing information via REST API)? If it's already planned, could you share expected timing or a way to track it? If not yet scoped, I'd like to register this specific use case as a vote for it: partners need a deterministic way to fetch the exact invoice generated from a specific quote, without manual lookup in the Admin portal or heuristic matching on dates/amounts.

Happy to share more detail on our integration if that helps with prioritization.

Thanks!

Hi @aleem ahmad

Welcome to the community.

It's as a parter to better raise such requests via the Partner Support portal.
