Hi everyone,
I recently started working with Jira Service Management and created a new project (space). I’m currently assigned as an Organization Admin, Jira Admin, and Project Administrator within this project.
However, I’m running into an issue with Automation:
In one of my existing projects, I can see the Automation section within the project (space) settings.
In this newly created project, the Automation option is not visible in the project settings at all.
I do have access to global automation and can create rules there, but for this use case I specifically need to manage automation at the project (space) level.
Could anyone clarify:
Why the Automation section might be missing in this project?
Whether there’s a way to enable or add Automation to the project settings?
If this could be related to project type, features, or configuration differences?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hello Edmond,
Are you working with a Free, Standard, Premium, or Enterprise subscription?
Can you show us information from the People and Access section of the project, showing the roles to which you are assigned for this project?
Can you show us the Permission Scheme associated with this project, showing us who is granted the Administer Projects permission?
Could been an issue based on the create action.
Is the option missing on using an incognito window or other browser?
If you create a new space, is the problem still there?

Hello @Edmond Khachatryan
First to clarify, which Space Type are that ? Company managed ? Team managed ?

Hello @Arkadiusz Wroblewski
Space type is Company managed. Also my role in space is administrator. And that role have Administer spaces and Browse spaces permissions.

@Edmond Khachatryan Space Type ? Go into Settings and make Screenshot from entire Settings Tree.
Check here https://yourUrl/atlassian.net/jira/settings/automation#/config
And make Sure this Setting are set to "All Space-Administrators can manage Rules"

Here are my screenshots, and I’ve already checked the config

So at that point I would compare the two projects directly.
If all of that matches and Automation is still missing only in one project, then I would stop looking for a hidden setting and raise it with Atlassian support as a project-specific UI/config issue.

Additionally, a golden rule:
If something works in one project but not in another, the first thing to do is compare both setups and check what is different in the new project. In most cases, the cause is permissions.

Usually it must be here
