I have a server-to-cloud migration that has been a work in progress for a long time, and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. However, today I upgraded the JCMA before running my next attachments migration. (I am pre-migrating attachments) I have JSW and JSM on the site.
When I went to do so, I was blocked, even though it seemed like all checks were fine. I could not figure out what was wrong, so I disabled and re-enabled the JCMA.
Afterward, I was told that the error was due to Jira Work Management not being on the cloud site. I thought that was Jira Basic/Jira Core/Jira you get for free when you have JSW. Is this a new requirement?
Hey Rob,
See this post for guidance:
Yes and no. I appreciate the post - I REALLY do, but as I asked there,
If JWM is the base product, why does it need to be added separately?

I got my TLAs mixed up - thought you wrote JWM, not JSW.
Either way, agree with your question - if JWM is the base product, why does it need to be added separately?

JWM can be a separate subscription (https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/work-management/pricing), it is my understanding that if your Jira Software (JSW) Cloud is at the Premium or higher level, then JWM is a part of the package.
I would suggest that you contact Atlassian Support (https://support.atlassian.com) to validate your Cloud env setup. Typically, JWM (cloud) represents Business Type projects in your on-prems.
Here is a good discussion in the community in the past on JWM versus JSW -
Hope this helps.

Hi @Joseph Chung Yin ,
Try migrating from Server to Cloud without JWM in place - you'll get the error I have above.

Based on my understanding, the version of migration assistance is now triggering the error notification. Have you contact Atlassian Support for further assistance? Lastly, what is your target Cloud subscription level?

@Joseph Chung Yin - the JCMA is only just now throwing an error, but apparently, it was always a requirement. I don't see why (since JWM is the base product) but what do I know?

It is not a perfect solution. This is why I recommended you to reach out to Atlassian Support for additional assistance on this matter.

Trust me. I'm in contact. I still don't have a clear answer.

Hi @Rob Horan
I don't think this is a new requirement as I've seen this error before. I believe the newer JCMA version now validates beforehand this dependency, which is great.
Cheers,
Alex

How is this great? Isn't JWM part of JSW?
Are people going to have to subscribe to both JWM and JSW now?

I meant great because we know this requirement before triggering a test migration (that's how I learned).
However, your point is 100% valid, and from a migration perspective, Jira Business projects will require the JWM product to be deployed on your site.

I'm less worried about migration than post migration $$$
Is this a separate subscription?
