Migrate Assets (formerly Insights) from Data Center to Cloud with ease
We know that migrating your Assets data from Jira Service Management (JSM) Data Center to Cloud is crucial to getting the most out of cloud. Until now, there has been no native, automated way to migrate Asset data—many teams relied on manual exports/imports, third-party tools, or custom scripts that were complex and time-consuming. With Assets migration now built into the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA), you can natively move your Assets schemas, object types, objects, and references from JSM Data Center to JSM Cloud as part of your overall migration. This capability is now available in JCMA 1.12.48 and later.

Migrate Marketplace app data separately from core data
With JCMA versions 1.12.46 and later, you can now run Marketplace app migrations independently of your core Jira and Confluence data migrations. Previously, third-party app migration data (including app custom fields and workflow rules, app configuration, and other app-owned entities) were tightly coupled to the core migration plan. With this update, you can migrate apps at any time after your core migration, giving you more control and agility. This flexibility also streamlines remediation: if you need to re-run an app migration, you can do so instantly without waiting for another Jira or Confluence migration cycle.
Enhanced support for Data Center → Forge app migrations
We’re making it easier for Marketplace vendors to move from Data Center P2 plugins to Forge. Our expanded support now includes all Forge storage types—KVS, SQL, and Object Store—and Jira Entity Properties. We’ve also streamlined migrations to Forge Remote apps, paving the way toward Runs on Atlassian (RoA) status. To simplify planning, we’re introducing a new migration path that retains much of the proven Connect migration flow while incorporating key Forge concepts and capabilities. These investments aim to help vendors deliver modern, scalable cloud apps faster.

Enhancements in this section are focused on ensuring admins can improve change management practices and keep teams running smoothly. |
Accelerate safe change management with Multiple Sandboxes - now GA
Multiple Sandboxes has transitioned from Open Beta to GA. With Multiple Sandboxes, you can accelerate safe change management by creating isolated sandboxes linked to a single site. This allows you to confidently test new configurations, features, or onboard new apps without impacting your production environment. For details on which plans include Multiple Sandboxes, the number of sandboxes provided, costs for additional sandboxes, benefits, and limitations, read the GA announcement post.

We're rolling out improvements to help you migrate quickly and securely, and land in Cloud with minimal disruption. Look out for more details on these upcoming releases in our next digest. |
Backup and Restore GA
Our new Backup and Restore experience will transition to GA in Q1 2026.
Earlier this year, we announced the Open Beta for Atlassian Backup and Restore, empowering your organizations to handle customer-owned disasters and meet compliance requirements. The new offering enables business continuity in the event of a disaster, with easy backups and rapid recovery, so you can bounce back quickly from disasters and accidental deletions.
In preparation for general availability, new enrollment is now closed. Customers who have already used the feature in the open beta will continue to have access until the GA.
In-flight remediation for data errors
We’re introducing In-flight remediation, a new capability that will allow admins to fix issues in-flight during their migration. This feature aims to accelerate migrations and minimize disruption by enabling error clean-up during migration, rather than requiring changes to the Data Center source instance.
In‑flight remediation targets data‑integrity errors identified in pre-migration checklists. This includes project‑level issues (i.e. invalid field values, missing configuration references, unmapped schemes) and offers two ways to resolve them: auto in-flight remediation for known patterns or a guided CSV workflow for complex cases. Stay tuned for more updates!
Deprecation of the Legacy Editor in Confluence Cloud
As previously announced, the Legacy Editor in Confluence Cloud will be retired in April 2026. For customers who have migrated from Confluence Server or Data Center to Confluence Cloud and still have pages in the Legacy Editor, those pages will be automatically converted to the Confluence Cloud editor over the next few months. This supports a faster, more reliable, and accessible editing experience that’s consistent across Atlassian Cloud.
What to expect for migrated sites:
Beginning January 21, 2026, you will no longer be able to create pages using the Legacy editor.
Automatic conversion of remaining legacy pages will roll out in phases beginning January 21 and complete by mid‑February 2026.
You can continue converting individual pages as needed through March 2026; on April 1, 2026, we’ll run a final automatic conversion for any remaining legacy pages.
Thank you!
That’s a wrap on the 2025 Q3/Q4 Cloud Transition Round-Up! We’ll be back next quarter with more updates and insights.
