Hi Community,
I’m Casey, a Product Marketing Manager on the Platform team. It was great meeting so many of you at Team ’26 in Anaheim, whether it was connecting at the Champions Workshop or at the booths, I loved hearing where you want to go next with the Atlassian platform. Your energy and insights keep shaping what comes next, and we can’t wait to bring you along as we roll out the next wave of updates to make your move to cloud smoother and help you get value faster.
With that, welcome to the Q1/Q2 2026 Cloud Transition Round-Up. Below you’ll find updates centered around our cloud migration programs, enhanced migration tooling, and business continuity. Let’s dive in!
➡️ Get started faster with Portfolio Insights for Data Center
Portfolio Insights is a free feature in Atlassian Administration (admin.atlassian.com) that inventories your product portfolio, assesses your data, and delivers targeted insights and recommendations to help you prepare for a move to cloud. Previously, connecting a Data Center instance to Portfolio Insights required downloading multiple Marketplace connector apps. We’ve simplified this by bundling those connector capabilities into a single installation so you can connect faster and start using Portfolio Insights sooner.
|
🗒️ Portfolio Insights is available to all customers with an Atlassian organization. If you do not have one, you can create one for free. Access to Portfolio Insights is limited to users with organization admin permissions (in Cloud) and system admin permissions (in Data Center). Learn more about permissions for Portfolio Insights. |
➡️ Enable the latest assessment logic in Portfolio Insights
The data and metrics app is the foundation that lets Portfolio Insights securely run Atlassian-supplied assessment queries so your data assessments run faster and you can benefit from the most up-to-date assessment logic available in Portfolio Insights. It’s included with Jira Cloud Migration Assistant 1.12.50+ and Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant 3.13.9+. To get it, simply update your migration assistant to the required version; no additional installation steps are needed.
➡️ App assessments are now available in Portfolio Insights
Apps are often one of the most complex parts of a migration, especially for enterprise organizations with large datasets. To help you identify and address app-related considerations earlier, Portfolio Insights expanded its assessment capabilities, now including third-party/Marketplace app assessments and custom app identification as part of the cloud readiness report.
➡️ Performance and Security insights are now available in Portfolio Insights
Portfolio Insights now includes Performance and Security insights to help you understand your Data Center instance health faster and prepare for your move to cloud with confidence. See our announcement.
|
🗒️ Can’t connect Portfolio Insights to your Data Center instance? You can still get these insights by manually collecting and uploading instance health data. |
➡️ Assessments automatically rerun every 28 days (opt-out available)
Connected instances now get an automatic assessment refresh every 28 days, helping ensure Portfolio Insights reflects the most current customer data shape and includes newer insights and recommendations as they become available. Opt-out is available within the UI.
|
🗒️ The automatic 28‑day re-assessment applies to Cloud Readiness assessments. Security Insights (part of Instance Health) refreshes much more frequently: when your Data Center instance is connected to Atlassian Administration, your security score updates about every two hours, and Security Health Over Time shows daily snapshots from the past week. |
➡️ Prevent data prep errors from delaying your migration
Pre-migration remediation helps you resolve data preparation issues before you migrate without changing anything in your source environment. After you run a pre-migration check, you’ll get clear, actionable details on what needs to be fixed (such as the affected project, item type, and recommended resolution), so you can address issues quickly and keep your migration on track.
You can apply fixes using a structured remediation file that supports both required and optional updates across multiple items making it easier to remediate at scale. Once you upload the updated file and your pre-migration status is green, you’re ready to proceed with a smoother migration.
Learn more about preflight remediation, available to all customers as of April 2026. A guided remediation UI in Jira Cloud Migration Assistant is planned by the end of Q2 2026.

➡️ Track migration projects with timestamps in JCMA (opt-in)
JCMA now includes an opt-in setting to help you clearly identify migrated content inside Jira after your move. On the Select Projects step of the migration plan wizard, you’ll see a new checkbox: “Add migration timestamp details to entity descriptions.”
When enabled, JCMA will automatically append a short tag during export (e.g., “Migrated on 2026-03-15 from Jira Data Center”) to the descriptions of migrated projects and issues. When left disabled (the default), no description changes are made.
This gives you a simple, self-serve way to mark migrated content for auditability, housekeeping, and stakeholder communication, without needing Atlassian to toggle an internal feature flag.
➡️ Migrate from Data Center to Cloud with minimal downtime (limited access feature)
The cloud-hosted migration assistant is Atlassian’s new approach to migrating Data Center instances to Atlassian Cloud. Instead of running the migration directly from your production environment, it lets you copy your Data Center data to a dedicated, Atlassian-hosted migration environment, then run the migration to your cloud site from there.
It also supports on-demand, incremental transfers—so you can move only what’s changed since your last run, helping reduce downtime and making it easier to test, validate, and repeat migrations without putting unnecessary load on your Data Center instance.

🗒️ Available now to select customers in our early access program. Stay tuned for updates on expanded access. |
We’re continuing to invest in migration planning, remediation, and intelligence to make cloud moves more predictable and less disruptive.
Usage-based insights: We’re bringing usage data into Portfolio Insights so you can see which apps, automations, and configurations in your Data Center instance are actively used and which aren’t. This helps you clean up before migrating, right-size your cloud environment, and focus remediation on critical guardrail breaches directly from your Data Center instance.
|
🗒️ Access to usage-based insights in Portfolio Insights will be optional and opt-in. Portfolio Insights will remain fully functional without it. More details coming soon. |
Action required assessments: We’re adding a new Action Required summary tile to Portfolio Insights' Cloud Readiness feature that surfaces only the guardrails currently blocking a test migration. Each flagged item links directly to the relevant section for remediation so you can focus on must-fix issues without extra noise.
Cloud transition agent: We’re developing a cloud transition agent to lay the groundwork for more guided, AI-assisted troubleshooting and migration support experiences.
Expanded remediation coverage: Preflight remediation is the first step in a broader effort to address more migration blockers without requiring source changes.
That’s a wrap on this issue of the Cloud Transition Round-Up. We’ll be back with more updates as new capabilities ship and upcoming improvements get closer to launch.
