Are Manual Backlinks Still Worth the Effort in Modern SEO?

Neil Estes

Hi everyone,

I’ve been spending a lot of time learning about SEO and link building recently, and one topic that keeps coming up is manual backlinks. Some marketers say they are still one of the safest and most reliable ways to build authority, while others argue that Google algorithms have evolved so much that link building strategies must be more advanced today.

From what I understand, manual backlinks are links that are created intentionally through activities like guest posting, forum discussions, blog comments, and outreach to website owners. Unlike automated tools that generate hundreds of random links, manual backlinks focus more on quality and relevance.

While researching this topic, I came across a page that explains the concept and the importance of manual backlinks in SEO strategies:

The explanation there suggests that manual link building can still help improve search rankings if the links come from relevant and trustworthy websites rather than spammy directories.

However, I’m curious about the real-world experience of people here.

Do you still actively build manual backlinks for your sites?

Have you seen positive ranking improvements from them recently?

Or do you think content marketing and social signals are more important now?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences or strategies.

Looking forward to learning from the community!
