How do I create a plan for future dates with Auto-Schedule?

I have a simple plan with 4 Epics and several stories under each. I have created estimates for each story and I want to see how these will lay out on my schedule with a future start date for the project. When I click on Auto-Schedule, it changes everything to start today.

I have tried setting the start date manually for the first story in the plan, hoping that this would influence the start dates for all subsequent stories based on the dependencies and prioritization.

When I try the Auto-Schedule, it always resets my start date to today.

Yes, I created a single team with a weekly capacity.

And each Story has a member of the team as the assignee?

We just came up with something that worked for us, more or less.

We created a release using:

• as the release start date, the date we want the planning to start, and
• as the release end date we just chose three months from the start date.

We then ran the autoschedule and it worked as expected, meaning the planning start date was the release start date.
