Friday Fun: Holiday Weekend Ahead
It's Labor Day weekend here in the United States. Labor Day is an oddly named holiday though - since almost no one is actually 'doing labor' on that day. It's roots are in the late 1800's when activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the contributions that workers and laborers have made to the US economy and industrial complex. These were in the days before the Team Playbook and championing constant feedback loops!
The United States has a habit of fixing Federal Holidays to Mondays - which creates the 3 day weekend we all have come to know and love.
Labor Day also ushers in the 'end of summer'. In many states kids return to school next week, public beaches stop having a lifeguard presence, and life begins to settle into the post-summer routine. But Labor Day is the last 'fun day' of the summer.
How do you celebrate the end of summer? Do you get together with family and friends? Do you choose to ignore the reality that Winter is Coming? Or maybe one last trip to the beach?
But no matter what...

Today is the first "fall storm" in Iceland, with strong winds and heavy rain ... brrr... so cozy weekend ahead which will be spent mostly indoors 😁

In the UK, we had our end of summer public holiday last weekend. This summer has been as typically British as you can have, June lured us in and July/August gave us a great big wet slap in the face
Most schools return today and this week is forecast to be the warmest of the the year ☀️
I still sense that most parents are rejoicing 😂
How do my wife and I cope with the summer ending? We pack up and chase more sun.

Love this topic @Andy Gladstone !Sorry I'm late to post; I was off for a couple of days to take a 6 day weekend to escape the AZ heat! For Labor Day weekend, I went to Monterey, CA and visited Big Sur, Carmel, and Pebble Beach. It was so beautiful and glorious!
