When I logged in today, I had a banner at the top of my board that said "This version of Firefox is not supported. Please upgrade to a supported version." I clicked on the link Trello provided, clicked to download the supported version, and was told that that version was for Windows only. I wasn't given an option to pick a different OS.

Is Firefox for Mac no longer supported on Trello? Or is the issue my OS? (I know I need to update it, but I keep putting it off.)

I'm already using the latest version of Firefox (123.0) on a MacBook Air running Big Sur 11.7.10.

Hi @Beth — we just rolled out a change to request Firefox users to update to the latest version, in order to gain access to a new browser technology. The specific minimum version that we're requesting right now is Firefox 121, so it sounds like you shouldn't be seeing that banner. Can you do me a favor and share the following information with me?

  1. Open your browser's developer tools (Command + Option + I) (that's an uppercase i)
  2. Open the "Console" tab
  3. Paste the following: "navigator.userAgent", and press Enter

It should look like this:

This should detail your computer and browser versions. It isn't particularly sensitive info, but if you're at all uncomfortable with doing this here, feel free to open a support ticket over at https://support.atlassian.com/trello/. You can ask for me by name to speed up the process.

Hi, Raymond,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Here's the string I got when I used the text you gave me.

"Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:123.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/123.0"

I'm also adding screenshots of the banner and the path it sent me to when I clicked on the link in the banner. For some reason it seems to be assuming I'm using a Windows machine, and I don't understand why.

I tried clearing my cache and data, but it didn't make a difference. I also tried on Chrome just to see what would happen; the banner doesn't appear on Chrome.

I recently saw a similar banner on tumblr, which is also an Atlassian site, but it seems to be gone now. (The Trello banner is still there this morning.)

Hi @Beth, that's really weird! I'll dig into that, thanks for reporting. In the meantime, it sounds like you're definitely on the right version, so feel free to simply snooze that banner with the X icon. It might come back after a week, but I'll try to get it fixed before then 🤞🏼

@Beth — I'm actually a little stumped by this. I checked, and our link to download Firefox is just the home page: https://www.firefox.com/

If Firefox thinks that you're on a Windows machine, something weird is happening that might be hard for us to figure out over here. I know it's a bit of a nuisance, but could you try updating your OS first and seeing if that resolves anything on your end?
