import data from my crm in trello

CIAMPARIX January 12, 2025

I need to import data from my management system into Trello boards, so that the tasks we register in the system are also reflected on the boards. The management system allows creating tokens, offers APIs, and I can export JSON files. Is there any specialist who can handle this?

You may want to consider using ScriptRunner Connect to automate this business case as SR Connect can connect to anything that has HTTP based API via the Generic Connector, and it also comes with a connector for Trello, making working with Trello much easier. Here is a template that integrates Trello with Jira, which can be a good starting point to figure out how Trello APIs work.

Hi @CIAMPARIX Thank you for reaching out. Are you migrating form your management system to Trello or do you plan to keep on using both systems and therefore need to create new Trello cards for every future task created in your current management system?
If the latter, are you looking for an integration of both systems or an automation to create cards in Trello once every time you start a task in your current management system?

Cheers!

Thank you, Alberto, for the response. I need to continue using two systems because I use the first one to create quotes, orders, and invoices, and Trello to organize. In practice, I create the order in my management system, which generates the work and delivery date. From there, I need to be able to import it into Trello to have a calendar where I can view all the tasks we need to complete... I just need it to import the client's name, the work description, and the delivery date. Then, from Trello, I add everything else I need to complete the task... I hope I’ve explained it well :-D

Got it! I would recommend you look into automations tools like Zapier or Make. If your management system offers API connections it may already have some sort of triggers or actions created in those automation platforms.
These platforms work on a simple Trigger - Action basis. In your case your automation would look like Trigger: Every time a new client/Job/Registry is created in your management tool Action: Trello action to create a card on a specific board.

What is the name of the management tool you are using?

From what I researched AbaNinja API does not have any predefined integration in Zapier or Make nor offers any webhook that you could subscribe to get notified whenever a new order has been created. The good news is that you can use a different approach by implementing a polling mechanism that asks AbaNinja API every day or every fraction of day about new entries and that would trigger the action of creating a new card or board in Trello to work on that project. You could even create another automation that would be triggered whenever you move the Trello card that represents the job to a complete lists which would trigger the action of calling AbaNinja for the final invoice creation.
If this is the first time you hear about API's, automations, pull, get or put requests, no worries, you can learn about it here.  Zapier and Make offer plenty of documentation and they laso have a community where people are always happy to help.
If you feel this is to much and prefer to hire someone, we can offer you our consultancy services. We are developers of the CRM Power-Up for Trello called Crmble. You can schedule a free consultancy call here.
Have a great day @CIAMPARIX ;)

I would like to rely on a professional. I am Italian, so if we chat, I might have difficulty with the language... I can provide access credentials for Aba or anything else you need, so you can assess the costs and feasibility. Would that work?
