I am looking to move over to trello from asana but before I do want to ask. I have a board with all my tasks but alongside this boards for each client however is there a way to link tasks between workspaces/boards.
For example, if I have a client workspace with a board and I put a task here for me. Is there a way I can link this task to automatically go into another workspace on another bord?
@Amy Cook Welcome :) yes, it is possible to create automations across multiple boards! Give it a try!
when a card is added to the board, copy the card to the top of list "To Do" on board "My Tasks", and link the cards together.
You can filter the trigger so only certain cards get copied, or, maybe you only want them to copy over when the cards reach a certain stage, rather than being copied immediately. For example:
when a card is moved to list "Ready", copy the card....
Just note that when you do this, it creates a completely new card (Trello term for "task") on the other board. It's not like Asana which allows you to "multi-home" tasks within different projects. It's a completely different card, so updates made to one will not reflect on the copy.
If you want to create a true "mirror" of the card, you would need to use a power-up (add-on) to build this added functionality. A common workflow I've set up is consolidating multiple boards into one master board using Unito. This allows you to automatically sync cards into one main board, and updates will sync back, allowing you to just work out of one place.
Hey, thanks for this. And so I have automation across boards but I wondered if it was possible across workspaces. So one workspace board to another.

Yep, it applies if the boards exist across different workspaces 🙂
