I've created and color-coded labels with colleague's names.
How do I tag the colleague in an automated email? I've used #labelname and {labelname} and it does not appear on the email.
Thanks in advance.
Are you wanting automation that sends them an email when their label has been added to a card?
If that's the case, you'll probably actually want to make the label name to be their email address, and then use the {labelname} value to reference in the "send email" option.
If you're trying to post a comment and tag them (which should also send them an email), you should be able to do the post comment with {labelname} as well, but you will need to include the @ symbol in front of it, so @{labelname} . Also the labels should be their username, not their display names. For instance my display name is Britt Joiner, but my username is britt_joiner.
Btw, a good way to test and see what it's pulling is to just set an automation that when a label is added, to post a comment with {labelname} and see what is shown there. If it's nothing, then you may need to change your variable (see all the variables you can access here). If it's the username, but no @ symbol and not tagged/hyperlinked, then that's a good indication you just need to add the @ symbol. If it's showing their name, then you need to change the labels to be the username, not the display name.
Let me know if that makes sense!
Hi Jamal,
Thanks for reaching out!
Would you mind expanding on what you would like to achieve here? Are you sending custom email notifications from Trello using automation?
I'll keep an eye out for your reply,
Lara
