Hey everyone,
on top of my five lists I use a colorful card with a sticker as header - see list "Bald" [yes, German for soon, not a hairless man ;)] with coming soon sticker and green background,
Every now and then, the card "Backlog" (red, with log sticker and mailbox emoji) shifts down two or three positions in the list. This does not happen with any other list header.
No rules or sorting are applied.
Is this a bug or somehow wanted behavior and I am missing something?
Hi Jon, welcome to the Atlassian Community!
We're unaware of any bug related to automatically sorting lists and haven't received other complaints about this issue. I suggest checking if any of the following options are causing the problem:
- Other members are moving the card. If you're working with other people on your boards, check if they are moving the cards to the top of the list, or if they have any automation doing this.
- A Power-Up is moving the cards. Some third-party Power-Ups and integrations may have permission to move the cards. You can see the enabled Power-Ups by clicking the rocket icon at the top of the board, or clicking "Power-Ups" in the board Menu.
- An automation is sorting the list. You mentioned that there isn't any rule sorting the list, however, I suggest checking all the other automation options in the Automation menu (Scheduled, Due date, Card buttons, and Board buttons). You can also ask other board members (if any) to double-check their automations.
There isn't currently an option to pin a card at the top of the list, however, other users requested this feature and we have an existing suggestion which you can access here: TRELLO-127
I recommend you to visit that suggestion, log in with your Atlassian account, and click Start watching this issue on the right panel. This will help our product and engineering team understand more about which functionalities our users are interested in. Also, when the ticket is updated by our product team, you'll be notified via email.
As a workaround, you can also create a rule to keep the card on the top of the list. You can find the steps to create the rule and a video created by one of our Community Leaders in this thread: Set absolute position of a card in a list
Thanks for your help Carolina,
there was indeed a scheduled automation set a couple years ago - I wasn't even aware of this function anymore as it so far had no noticable effect on my lists.

Happy to help! I'm glad you could find the automation causing the issue.
