Unable to add a member/assign to a card.

We use Trello for our mortgage companies funding department. For some reason, the board we use does not present the option to "change members" on an individual card on the board. The card itself nor the little pencil presents this option.

I created a separate board to test this out and the option to "change member" immediately presented itself. Everyone I am attempting to assign is a member of the board and paid for. I have looked around and have been unable to troubleshoot this myself. Can you tell me what steps I need to take to get that added to the board that doesnt have it?

Hey, Andrew!

Your first screenshot looks a lot like a template board, would you be able to confirm if that's the case?

You can't change members on Template boards, and even if there's already a member added on a card from a template board when you create a new board from that template, no members will be assigned to any cards.

If that were the case, there would be a lot of template creators being added to boards from different organizations, and billing could become really troublesome.

Let me know if that works, and if not, feel free to create a ticket so we can investigate more thoroughly!

Thanks for the response!

I can confirm the board is a template board. (Although all parties I am attempting to add to cards are members of said board).

Interesting factor I had not considered. How would I go about "Un-templating" the existing board? It is the primary one the company uses and I only made it a template so that I could copy it to run some other experiments on a dummy board.

Hey, Andrew!

Just open the board menu to the right and click on "Convert to board". This will make it a regular board once again.

If you want to copy the board to run tests on it, there is no need to turn it into a template, you can copy it directly as is. Here's an article in case you want to take a look at it: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/copying-cards-lists-or-boards/

I hope this helps!

Worked like a charm!

Thanks so much for the quick and thorough responses.
