Transfering Custom Field data across boards using Labels

I have a custom field that will be assigned in one board. That card is then linked to another board using labels.

The custom field seems to come across with the card but the data that was entered into the field on the original board does not come across. Do I need to create additional automation to link the data in the cards so they match on both boards?

@Matt Juric how are you linking the two boards together? Are you just copying the cards manually or using Butler to copy them automatically? 

If I copy a card from one board to another, the custom field and the value follow through with the card. This is what I'm doing:

Board A and board B have a custom field called "Name" which is a text field (note: you would get the same result if Board B did not have the custom field).

1. Create card on board A
2. Input "Hannah" into the custom field "Name"
3. Copy card to board B

Result: Card is successfully copied to board b and the "Name" custom field is populated with "Hannah" on the copied card.

I did not set up the labeling system so I'm not 100% sure how we are doing it.

There is occasionally a note that pops up in the description that says "Card is synchronized with this Trello Card by Unito"

No idea if that is Butler or not.

In short we create a card, add a label and the card sync's/Copies to the board that the additional label is added.

So if I had a board "Cats" and "Dogs" and made a card on "Cats" board and added the "Dogs" label to a copy would appear in the same column on the "Dogs" board and they would be sync'd.

Yep, sounds like you're syncing the boards with Unito. Unito support can help you, or I could try to help here (I do offer Unito consulting alongside Trello). It sounds like you haven't mapped this custom field in your field mappings. Unito doesn't automatically map new fields in your boards, seeing as it's not always the desired behaviour to sync all information. So you'll need to actively tell Unito that you want these fields mapped and the field value to be synced between the two cards.

Do you have access to the Unito settings? Or can you ask the person who set it up to look at the field mappings?
