Timeline of epic card

Hello everybody,

For big projects we use epic cards to have an overview of all the to-do's linked to the project.

So we made an automation, once an epic card is created the system will automatically create cards for all the to-do's.

the project manager than puts due dates and completes the information on the card en transfers the card to the trello board of the team responsible.

In the epic card we can sort the linked cardes on the due date, but is is possible to see this in a timeline overview so we can show this aswell to customers and have a clear calendar overview of what happens when?

Hi Annelies! Have you already looked into the native timeline view? There are also a few power ups that offer timeline/Gantt chart views. If you type "Gantt" in the Power Up directory, you'll see a few. Team Gantt is one, and Planyway is another.

If you're just wanting to look into one epic and its related tasks, you can filter the board to just see specific cards in the timeline view. Perhaps you could do it with labels? Potentially labelling the epic with the epic name, and then all of the related tasks with the same label. You could use a grey label if you don't want it to show on the front of the card. It would be cool if the label would auto-copy from the epic card to the children tasks, but not sure if Hello Epics offers the ability to copy information from the epic to the children cards.

Hi Hannah, Thanks for the reply.

your suggestion will work perfectly on epic card that are all on the same board. But in this case the epic cards are distributed over approximatly 6 boards.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to do that?

@Annelies Van der Sanden the native Trello timeline view will just show you the contents of one particular board; there's currently no way to see a consolidated view of many boards. There are apps like Unito's 2-way board sync (a paid power up) that will allow you to consolidate cards into a master board, and then you could use the timeline in that master board, or, power-ups like Planyway, Team Gantt, etc. allow you to add more than one board to their timeline view, but that would require a paid subscription.
