Removing strikethrough across platforms

Leslie Hand September 2, 2023

Hi all,

I'm trying to use Trello for a Potluck sign up. Thanks to this helpful community, I was able to get the extension to remove the very annoying strikethrough feature on my checklist.  Unfortunately, I figured out that that feature apparently only works for me on my desktop.  So my phone and ipad still show the strikethrough, and I assume that my board members also see the strikethrough, which is confusing.  I just unchecked all the boxes again, but now it looks like no one has signed up.

Question 1: is there a way to change this setting for the board / card itself so that it ports across platforms and users?

As that seems unlikely, here's question 2:  Is there a better way in Trello to create sign up sheets?

Many thanks,

Leslie

Hi @Leslie Hand

How are you using the checklists, as in what are you putting in them?

I am sure if I know a bit more about what you want I can offer a solution that will work.

If you are managing the potluck through Trello and you want people to contribute into it, you could use something like Forms by Bluecat or Forms by Tiny Power-ups Club

Related, if you're just trying to indicate ownership for items, you could creat a list of the things that are needed at a potluck (each card could be an item), and you could either use labels or assign members to indicate if an item has been "claimed". You could also set up automation that when that label is added or a member is added, it moves to a "claimed" list, so you can quickly see what items still need to be claimed.

Potluck is when we plan a meal together and everyone brings something different! You have to coordinate sometimes because you don't want multiple people to bring chicken and no one to bring any cake!

Hi Leslie,

Welcome to the Community and glad to know you are also getting help from them :)

Currently, we only have checklist as a native feature for things to complete which is why the strikethrough is expected behavior.

If this helps, someone has already request for it so there is a feature request to have the ability to have the option to disable the strikethrough when ticking lists — if there's any additional info or use case that you want to share as to why this feature is important, let me know and I'll pass your information to the relevant team.

If you are curious about how our team decides which requests we work on, we have published a blog post with detailed information on this process here: https://blog.trello.com/feature-requests-unite-support-and-product

If you'd like to see our latest features and future releases you can take a look at our roadmap at https://www.atlassian.com/roadmap/cloud?selectedProduct=trello. Our mobile boards are available at https://trello.com/b/5tj4qAvo/trello-ios-app and https://trello.com/b/ud59t1fL/trello-android-app.

Look forward to your reply!
