I have recurring tasks that I do, so I have set up the repeat power up. It works great initially, but once the new card appears, the repeat function is gone. Is that normal? Shouldn't it continually repeat?

Hi Evan,
Each repeated card is its own separate entity, so if you were to do as you describe, and set the Repeat again, you'll have a lot of extra repeating cards!
The first card, the original will continue to repeat until you disable the repeat or delete the card. Each newly repeated card is its own thing, so no need to set the repeat on those cards also!
