Notification Bell on dash-board (up right)

Hello everyone,

just signed up on Trello for a job and I don't know how to activate the notifications on the bell icon on the up-right corner of the dashboard. Haven't set any particular settings but it doesn't get red when my boss post some task for me to do so it's quite unpractical... anyone can help me?

Thanks in advance,

Angela

Hi @Angela Ballone ! Welcome to the community :) the red bell is to signal that there has been some activity that you've been notified of. There are certain things that will trigger a notification such as due date reminders, someone @mentioning you, etc. (more details here).

When you say "when my boss post some task for me", are you able to elaborate a bit on what you mean by that? Is your boss creating a card and adding you as a member to that card?

Hi, and thanks for the reply.

Yes, when my boss creates a card for me the bell keeps normal, whilst for colleagues it becomes red. I get the notification through email and managed to switch on notification on the desktop, but nothing on the dashboard itself.

Can you suggest a way to make this change?

@Angela Ballone are you able to check to see if you're receiving the notification in the first place? It might be that because you're in Trello when the activity happens, the notification is being marked as "read". You can check all read notifications here:

Maybe also try testing it by shutting down Trello on your computer and then getting someone to create a card and add you as a member.

Yes, notifications are there to see. And we've tried moving a card from a section to another but no red bell. Will try again shutting down Trello on my laptop but, still, what if I'm working and someone creates a card? Shouldn't I be notified of that too?

Sorted! Thanks :-D
