My board button requires a screen refresh to work. How do I get around this?

Linda Burke April 25, 2024

My six "area" boards link to Google calendars. I use the combined calendar to time-block the day, then I go through the six boards and run a button that moves all cards due today to a "Today" board, and I use the Calendar power-up on my phone as a to-do checklist. (It's not as complicated as it sounds.) Recently, the Windows version of Trello has required me to refresh the screen before running the board button. It's a small but irritating extra click. Have I set it up incorrectly? Here's the command:

copy each card due today to list "TODAY" on board "✅Today"

Hi Linda,

Thanks for reaching out!

Hmm, that definitely sounds strange.

Could you please uninstall the Trello Windows app and install it again, but make sure to follow the instructions here:

I know this is a very general suggestion, but it helps us narrow down the investigation by making sure you have the most recent version of the app and that there is no leftover data from previous versions.

Please test it after reinstalling, and we can continue investigating from there, if the issue persists.

I was using the web version, but I installed the app and it happens there too. If I close a board and reopen it, I'm able to run the automation.

Hi Linda,

Thanks for trying.

I haven't been able to replicate the issue. Can you please confirm if the issue persists when you use a different browser (including incognito/private window)?

Can you also send me a screenshot of the board button in question?

Hi Linda,

Just an update here, it looks like we have an open bug about this: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TRELLO-251

As of right now, I don't have an ETA on when this fix will be released, as it depends on various factors such as the team’s backlog and the complexity of the bug itself. That being said, with the link I sent above, you should be able to watch this issue by clicking on Start watching this issue.

For further information about how we track and fix our bugs, you can review the Atlassian Cloud Bug Fix Policy.

If you have any additional questions, things you would like to make known about this bug, other concerns or feedback, please feel free to let me know!

All the best,

Lara

My bug is a little different. It happens both in the app and in the web version, and the button is always visible - it just doesn't do anything.

Here's a screenshot of the button.

Hi Linda,

Just to confirm, does the board button appear as expected?

Can you please click on the board button and if it doesn't work, please check the activity log to see if there are any errors. Here's how to access the activity log: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/opening-the-command-log/

It does not appear in the source board's activity log, even when it runs successfully following a screen refresh. It does appear in the destination board's activity log.

Hi Linda,

We'll need to look into this further, so I've gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf: TRELLO-199324. Please keep an eye out for an email.

Our team will be in touch in that ticket as soon as they can.

All the best,
