I would like to use automation to reassign items on the checklist based on a person being out or not. The last post I saw was in 2018 and it was not possible. But I'm wanting to do it now.
@Chyle J_ Edic it's maybe possible depending on your workflow, but I feel like there's a bunch of ways it could be set up, so the proper answer is "it depends" 😂.
For instance, if you were working with cards instead of checklist items, you could do something like this:
1. Create a card called "available" and each week/whenever, just make that an active list of people who are "in" - this will be the list of folks that are available to be assigned to something.
2. Create a card with the name of each person in your board (I'll explain why in a second) - this will keep track of each persons items.
3. Create an automation that does something like this to rotate assigning members of the available card.
4. Create another automation for each person that when they are assigned to a card, that card is linked to the card associated with their username. (You will need to make a rule like this for each user, unfortunately I can't figure out any automation variables that would pull the username of the person who was assigned.)
4. Then lastly, create this rule for each member in your board, which should handle the reassigning piece when you remove someone from the Available card.
