Is there a way to link a card to two different boards?

Melissa Smith October 31, 2024

I have one board where I write all of my social media content. I have another board where I am organizing everything for a course that I am creating. As part of the course launching process, I am going to be writing a lot of social media posts. I would like to have the cards with my social media content linked to both boards, so that when I update one card, it is automatically updated on the other, and I can see the information in both boards so I don't have to keep switching between them. Is that possible?

Hi there! We just released a new feature last week that might be what you're looking for: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/mirroring-cards/

I'd love to hear how it works out for you if you give it a try!

Hi @Melissa Smith

Not automatically, though you can use a tool like Butler or I believe there is a power up called something like Card Duplicate or Card Sync and this allows a card to be duplicated and synced across boards. I am unsure if there is a cost with the app. Butler is built in for some functionality, but other power apps are made by third part developers, the one I am thinking of used to be made by Unito. Hope this helps

Best,

Clark

Hi @Melissa Smith

As @Clark Everson said, there are some mirror card options.

If you are typically syncing 1-way, using Trello automation (formerly Butler) can be used.  You would first have to link cards together using the connect cards feature in Trello (this can also be done in automation)

https://www.atlassian.com/blog/trello/related-cards-related-boards

You can then do an automation on the "Master" board that says,

when the description of a card contains "{*}", find the first card linked in attachments and set the card description to "{triggercarddescription}

If you want 2 way syncing, here are some options:
