I'm guessing you're referring to files attached to cards. How are they attached?

If the files are on some sort of cloud server, you can put links to the files on the cards and make it so only people who can log into the cloud server can access the files once they click on the link. The method to do this depends on the cloud server you are using.

Or, you could automate that when cards are created, another card is created on another board. Then, only give your customers access to the other board. The problem with this method is that you have to specify every single thing you want to be copied to the new card with Automation Variables  (Do you want the due date copied? Do you want checklists copied? Do you want the description copied?). Plus, if anything on the original card changes, and you want the new card to be updated too, you would have to create an automation for each and every single type of edit that might be done to the original card, so that Butler knows to update the new card.

These are the two methods I can think of off the top of my head, as Trello doesn't have a way (to my knowledge) to remove attachments from cards in Automation, unless (possibly) you use the API, which is a whole other can of worms to open.
