Is the E-Mail alias auto-generated or can I choose one?

In Trello, there seem to be email alias adresses for every team member you can use when you want to mention/notify someone in a card etc. 

Are theses aliases being automatically generated by Trello—or does one have to choose them consciously? 

Also, how does one go about changing them?

You can change the username on your account, that people can use to mention you, by going to this link and entering the username you're wanting to use - https://trello.com/your/profile

And is the alias autogenerated first time or does the admin have to set it up for the team members? 
Has been a while since I last set up an account and am currently only working with boards I’ve been invited to. This would just be of interest to me, perhaps you know this, too. Thanks in advance.

The initial username is set automatically when you sign up but this can be changed right away by the account holder. 🙂
