Is it possible to automatically copy a card that has not been moved for 7 days

Dmitry Antonov September 26, 2024

Hi everyone. The question is: of a card has been move to status in progress, but not changed to complete for 7 days - is it possible to copy this card to a new board, let's say called: "Need attention"?

The idea behind this is simple: in our case, when someone has a lot of cards in progress and misses a card, we need to go through each employees board. But if just the ones that have let's say 7 days are copied, it's easier to pay attention to it.

Maybe any other solutions, such as not copy a card, but send email somewhere ,etc.

Thanks in advance.

@Dmitry Antonov you could set an automation under Scheduled where "every day", trello moves cards that have been in list "Doing" (or whatever the list you want to monitor) to another list like "Flagged" or something. Like this

But if you wanted to copy the cards and not actually move them, you'd probably need to set up a couple automation rules, one for settings a custom date field when a card moves into the list, and then another scheduled automation to copy cards that are in that list and have a custom date field value of more than 7 days ago (like this:)

If you're just wanting to see a list, the Time in List Power-Ups by Blue Cat Reports and Tiny Power-Ups would help too, and save you from having to keep track of so many cards and their duplicates.

Brittany,

Thank you. This does seem as something that would work. We are going to test it now.

Yay! Glad to hear it!!

By the way, if you want to nerd out with other Trello automation enthusiasts, we have a Atlassian Community Events chapter dedicated to Trello - http://trellotrailblazers.club/ Feel free to join! It's free and we do events about trello pretty regularly (and me and my co-leader are obsessed with automation haha)

Hi Dmitry,

I tried to look this up and I've seen a lot of Work-in-Progress apps that highlight lists with too many items but they don't allow for this central reporting. For example this https://trello.com/power-ups/5b4765f383dd7c75d8e57be4/time-in-list-by-blue-cat

Building a central reporting for this is not an issue but I would need a few questions answered. Do you have Trello premium? Would this overview be accessible only to select few for each board? How many emails or card copies would happen weekly?

Kind regards,

Jan
