Is it possible to add a card to multiple lists on trello?

I am looking to add a card to multiple lists across the board.  I want to be able to create one card and then have it go to each one of the lists or select lists. We put our team members names as the list name and I want to assign a card to all of them without creating the card or copying the card a bunch of times.  For example when you click to copy the option to select the lists you want to add it too, instead of having to pick just one list.

Thanks for your help

Hi @Kim Peffley

I think this can be achieved with Butler.

You could set a label called 'ready to go' or something like that, and have a trigger based on that.

This is how I could see it working (I've just used my first label name, and made up assignee's names as well - I'm not very creative!):

So the trigger would be, when you added the label. This would mean that you can do everything you want inside the card, set up due dates and content etc first, then the last thing would be to add the label to trigger the rule to do it's thing:

Then you could tell Butler to copy the card to Bob's list:Screenshot 2020-07-12 at 06.42.50.png

Then Butler would be able to add Bob to the card.

Then the next step would be to copy  the card to Charlie's list - this will be a copy of the one you put in Bob's list, so you need to add Charlie and remove Bob:

Then you'd just need to add as many people as you have lists. So the next one would be to copy the card into Dave's list, add Dave and remove Charlie, then the next one would be to copy it to Edwards list, add Edward and remove Dave. Does that make sense?

From what you've said, this is what I think you're asking.

You want to create one card, then have it copied to all the team's lists and assign them to the card.

Does this look about right? Please come back to us if it's not and we can try something else!

Hey there Kim!

Mirror would definitely allow you to create a card and sync it to as many boards as you need - the sync works both ways so that would also mean the cards can get updated instantly (disclaimer: I work at Unito).

Let me know if you have any questions,

Ghiona

Is there a way to mirror a card in different lists on the same board ? I can only see how to mirror on different boards.

Someone at Unito, could you answer Shane's question which was repeating the original question. It seems like you talked about across board mirroring when that was not the question.

Is there still no resolution for mirroring cards to different lists in the same board?

No, I'm afraid Trello doesn't support mirroring content like that between multiple cards, but I'll let the team know that's something you'd like to see!

There are a number of third-party Power-Ups that might help here, like Mirror by Unito that you might want to look into to set something like that up!

THis needs to come up again, without power ups or silly steps... it is really important that people be able to select a card in any list, and COPY... and then multi select other lists to copy it to, in bulk.. in the same board.  Even if this means it must go to the same position in the list in every card and be moved after for simplicity.

Linking or mirroring etc is not required.. just update to include a basic function of every single file and information usage program since the invention of the GUI...  multi select :)

This would be useful for the Story Mappy Board use case.  After all the lists have been created and stickies added they need to be sorted into releases.  Currently I have to manually add a card for each list for Release 1, Release 2, etc.  If it existed I could apply a 'Release' template to all (or selected) lists instead of having to do it 15 times X number of releases.

I was hoping it would show up as a butler automation tip after I repeated the same action on the 5th list but nothing happened, so I manually added to the rest of the 10 lists.

well instead of sync, I think an essential feature would be to have a card existing once and be able to see it from different boards.
