If anyone add a comment or changes card's name/description/attachment/date or anything related to this particular card I'd like to have this card highlighted for some period of time or until I open it and thus mark it as read.

I know there are notifications but in complicated boards it can get quite messy. Also I know there are rules, for example you can make rule that adds let's say purple label whenever card is changed, but the label doesn't disappear until someone removes it manually.

Is such feature built in Trello?

Automation could do this. You can have a set of rules to cover the activity mentioned:

You can have the same automation for Triggers:

  • when a member is added to card
  • when the name of a card contains {*}
  • when the description of a card contains {*}
  • when an attachment is added to a card
  • when a label is added to a card
  • when a comment is posted to a card
  • when custom field [field name] is set
  • when custom field [field name] is cleared

and so on...

The good thing is you make the first automation and there is a copy automation button to make the duplication easier.

To clear the label, you could have a button on the card like this:

Thanks for the high effort reply. I have one question. Isn't the 'Mark as Read' button available for everyone in the board? This would make possible a situation in which one user clicks it, and other miss the updated content, as there is no indicator no more.
